What Does A Florida Girl Know About Bombs??
When I was asked by Angela to write a posting for Romancing the Pen I thought I’d tell you about my research journey with my latest release from Solstice Publishing Capture In Lies. This is the second book in the In Lies Series and I wanted it to be spectacular and not a run of the mill romantic suspense novel. I wanted things to go BOOM in a big way so I decided that my villain The Emperor would use bombs to get his point across.
Well what in the world does a Florida girl like me, who has had no military experience or training, do to find out about bombs? And how do I keep the FBI and Homeland Security from knocking on my door and confiscating everything I own? LOL Well, while I was pondering that question the newspaper landed on my driveway. When I opened it up there was an article all about the local city bomb squad. So…I contacted the reporter who wrote the article and asked how I could get in touch with the Bomb Squad Commander. I knew he was going to think I was some kind of kook but he was GREAT! He answered my millions of questions patiently and Would Not under any circumstances tell me how to build or disarm a bomb, but he did give some great resources. I’m telling you it is SCARY to know the information that is out there.
Any way it made Captured In Lies a great book and I think you will really enjoy the fruits of my research labor. The lesson I learned through this process? All you have to do is ask. I’ve found that many experts love to talk about their skills and when you tell them you are an author they are more than willing to help you out. So don’t hesitate! Call them up and ask them.

Yes, I know isn’t it wonderful knowing they wouldn’t teach me how to make one? LOL I really had fun writing this book. So much to learn. But you know there is a lot of information out there for people to find.
